Sabin Rak (fka Sabine Rak) ist Freie Bildende und darstellende Künstlerin. 1984 in Ruda Śląska, Polen geboren als Sabina, zog sie 1988 mit ihrer Familie nach Frankfurt/Main (Sabine) und lebt und arbeitet seit 2015 in Leipzig (Sabin). Seit 2022 arbeitet sie in den beiden Sparten: der Bildenden sowie der Darstellende Kunst. Rak begann ihr Studium 2003 an der Hochschule Darmstadt im Kommunikationsdesign, wechselte 2005 an die Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach/M um freie Kunst zu studieren um dann schließlich 2011 als Meisterschülerin der Klasse Näher die Städelschule in Frankfurt/M zu absolvieren. Seit 2005 tanzte Rak mehrfach wöchentlich Ballett/Modern, was sie in Leipzig weiter im Feld des zeitgenössischen Tanzes verfolgte und an Performances teilnahm sowie auch entwickelte. 2022-2023 machte sie eine Tanzpädagogik und Choreografie Ausbildung in Leipzig und seit 2023 ist sie Tänzerin der Company des Leipziger Tanztheaters, eines Semi-professionellen Ensembles, mit mehrfachen Auftritten jährlich. 2022 erhielt sie für ihre Malerei ein Neustart Kultur Arbeitsstipendium über 6 Monate der Stiftung Kunstfonds und 2020 das Denkzeit Stipendium des Freistaates Sachsen.

Die Künstlerin setzt sich in ihren Arbeiten seit ihren Anfängen mit dem Thema des Menschen im Innenraum auseinander. Ihre Arbeit umkreist das Innere wie das Äußere. Damit ist einerseits die Psyche des Menschen gemeint und andererseits eine Welt, die als Konstruktion begriffen wird.Wir sehen Räume in den Werken, die in ein Spiel aus Linien und Flächen verwickelt sind. Rak ist bestrebt im Bild offene Denkräume zu schaffen und somit dem Betrachter nicht das fertige Abbild zu liefern.Vielmehr geht es um Denkprozesse. Sabin Rak (formerly Sabine Rak) is a freelance visual and performing artist. Born in 1984 in Ruda Śląska, Poland as Sabina, she moved with her family to Frankfurt am Main in 1988 (Sabine). She has lived and worked in Leipzig (Sabin) since 2015 and has been working in both visual and performing arts since 2022. Rak began her studies in communication design at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences in 2003, transferred in 2005 to the Offenbach University of Art and Design to study fine arts and graduated in 2011 as a Meisterschüler*in of Christa Näher at Städelschule in paining. Since 2005, Rak danced ballet/modern several times a week and pursued this further in Leipzig within the field of contemporary dance, participating in and developing performances. From 2022 to 2023, she completed a dance pedagogy and choreography training program in Leipzig, and since 2023, she has been a dancer of the company of Leipziger Tanztheater, a semi-professional ensemble, performing several times a year. In 2022, she received a six-month working grant „Neustart Kultur“ from the Kunstfonds Foundation for her paintings, and in 2020, she received the „Denkzeit“ grant from the free state of Saxony Foundation.

Since her beginnings, the artist has explored the theme of the human being in interior spaces. Her work revolves around both the inner and the outer. This refers, on the one hand, to the human psyche and, on the other, to a world conceived as a construction. We see spaces in her works that are entangled in an interplay of lines and surfaces. Rak strives to create open spaces for thoughts in her paintings and thus not to present the viewer with a finished image. Rather, it is about thought processes. Rak takes her personal perception and human form as a starting point. Using the furnishings in her interiors, she allows us to immerse ourselves in her perception. Leipzig, 2026
